Public, Intentional & Explicit (PIE) affirmation & celebration of all people
It is time for Pride in Kamloops!
And Kamloops United Church will be there!Kamloops Pride Week is Monday, August 21 – Sunday, August 27. There will be events every day but on Sunday, August 27, Kamloops United Church will be participating in the annual parade that morning, and hosting a booth in the afternoon at the Festival in Riverside Park.
Kamloops United Church is a Two Spirit and LGBTQIA+ Affirming community of faith and the Pride Parade and festival in the park are extremely important opportunities for KUC to be Public, Intentional and Explicit in our Affirmation and Celebration of all people and all orientations and gender identities. Recently there has been an uptick in hateful speech and actions towards the Queer community and it feels like in 2023, it is even more important for Affirming churches and people to show up and to catch some stones. Please plan to walk with KUC on Sunday, August 27
The parade begins at 11 am and disperses at Sixth Avenue. Watch for additional details about where and when our KUC group of marchers will gather prior to the parade. (Previously parade mustering has been on St. Paul Street west of Third Ave.) This invitation and appeal is for everyone, all ages, the more the better! It’s fun and means so much to the community! If you can volunteer at our booth in the park, please let the KUC office know. (This is a great opportunity for folks who want to participate but are unable to do the walking.)
