UPDATE, July 2023: This position has been filled!
Kamloops United Church is actively looking for a full-time Minister of Community Life.
Kamloops United Church is a community of faith that reaches approximately 500 persons, located in downtown Kamloops, British Columbia. We seek to bring a vibrant social justice and outreach ministry to our community as we live out our mission. Our new vision (March 2023) is to be more risk-taking, incorporate more younger people in church governance, strengthen First Third ministry, and honour our eco-stewardship.
The Minister of Community of Life is a step in living out our vision. They will join our team of 14 employees, primarily working with the Lead Minister, Administrative Manager, Activities/Engagement Co-ordinator, and Office Co-ordinator/Bookkeeper (All full-time positions.).
Since COVID, our community of faith has welcomed new people, primarily those under the age of forty. The Minister of Community Life will engage and integrate newcomers into KUC, especially working with young families and the Twentysomething group (an average of 12 at a gathering). This will be done through encouraging faith formation, engaging children, youth, and young adults in the Christian faith, and working with the Camp Grafton society.
Pastoral care will be shared with the Lead Minister, and it is expected that the Minister of Community of Life will assume the duties of the Lead Minister when they are absent. This person will assist in weekly worship.
We are looking for someone who is a self-starter, relates well to all ages, enjoys working with a team, and is willing to explore new and innovative ways of being a faith community.
This position is open to all ordered (ordained and Diaconal) ministers as well as DLMs (designated lay ministers).
