This Sunday is the second Sunday of Lent, the weeks before Easter when Christians have traditionally engaged in a period of self-examination. This week’s Scripture passage is a strange one where Jesus laments over the unfaithfulness of Jerusalem and compares God to a mother hen attempting to gather in her chicks who don’t want to come. The title of the contemporary interpretation is: “I Have Longed.”
We also celebrate PIE Day — Public, Explicit and Intentional as an Affirming Community of faith.
The service will be led by Dr. Caveney with music led by Tomas Bijok.
The choir will be singing “O, the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus”.
Gordon Britton will be playing “Musical Introduction to Lent” as a prelude and “Trumpet Voluntary” by Jeremiah Clark as a postlude.
