Minister’s Note
“When I was a child, a dear aunt (my favourite!!) would have us go around the Thanksgiving table, each of us telling what we were thankful for that year. Everyone, even children, were asked to share their thanks. This has now become a custom for me at Thanksgiving and I love to hear what family and guests are thankful for.
As I hear the words of thanks, it strikes me quite often, we don’t thank God as often as we might. Even though there is much in life for which to express gratitude, it seems that I am easily distracted by the things that I don’t consider to be blessings.
We have all heard of that saying, “To every cloud, there is a silver lining.” I wonder if this means that with every challenge or discomfort in life, there is a blessing in there somewhere?
Paramount in many of our minds at the moment is the COVID pandemic. How much longer must we go through this? Yet, I need to stop for a moment, and think of some of the blessings that have come out of this time.
This Thanksgiving, a Thanksgiving that when we are in a pandemic, when we might not be celebrating with loved ones as we would have done in the past, what are some of the blessings for which you can give thanks?”
Blessings, Michael
