Dawson Group Donates to PIT Stop!
Thank you, Dawson Group! In Rick’s words…
Well, we had such an awesome week so far, I’m tempted to do cartwheels!
I was recently contacted by Lena S. from Dawson Group and asked if there was something that we, as a community agency, needed, that they, as a proud community supporter, could provide. The discussion came around to the fact that our carts in the church could direly use a change out. In no time at all Dawson Group ordered new carts for us, had them shipped to their business and then had a ‘competition’ between their operation departments to see who could build the better cart. I’m not sure of the criteria for this competition but I’m pretty confidant that their were no losers. Then the team that was most ‘resourceful’ at assembling these transformative carts for us, had the opportunity to bring them to the church.
As an actively conscience and relative business in our community their impact continues with not only support, but awareness. Please see the following release:
September 30th has been federally legislated as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This new statutory holiday is to recognize and reflect on the tragic history and ongoing legacy of residential schools in Canada.
On Thursday, September 30, 2021, to honour National Truth and Reconciliation Day, the Dawson Group of Companies will pause our operations. Dawson Group recognizes the importance of this day for our employees, partnerships, and communities, and we are formally recognizing September 30th as a statutory holiday for our entire group of companies across BC.
At Dawson, we pride ourselves in doing well as an organization so we can do well in our communities. To honour the discovery of 215 unmarked graves for children found at the Kamloops Residential School site, our team reached out to the Kamloops organization, PIT Stop, to offer our support for their program. PIT Stop strives to reduce the impacts of poverty by suppling hot, nutritious meals each Sunday to many community members. This organization requires three new stainless steel kitchen carts to assist with food preparation and delivery. We are pleased to share that Dawson will donate these carts to PIT Stop in the name of bringing action to reconciliation.
Thank you Dawson Group. We are very grateful for your kindness.
Also, please check out the photos from today when Tom D. of Rotary Daybreak was the first team leader to use them! What a great moment!
