Reconciliation Action
In June, shortly after the discovery of the unmarked graves at the former Kamloops Residential School,
KUC sent a letter on behalf of the Reconciliation Exploration Circle group to members of the congregation. We included a hand-crafted hanging for folks to display to honour the missing Indigenous children.
If you were able, you were asked to make a donation, through KUC, to the Kamloops Aboriginal Friendship Society, whose mission is to “Provide and Promote Culturally-Based Inclusive Programs, Supports, and Activities, to Enhance Holistic Well-Being and Pride in Urban Aboriginal Peoples”.
KAFS offers many programs including health services, child and family services, as well as elder and cultural services.
In case you have not had the chance to make a donation, please take this opportunity to send, or drop one off, at KUC by Monday Nov. 1st as we plan to send the donations to the KAFS shortly thereafter.
If you did not receive one of Jan Vint’s beautiful hangings there are still a few available at the KUC office.
Thank you for your generosity.
