Stories from Our Summer Students
This week’s story is from Kiara, our summer sewing student.
My name is Kiara Lampreau and I did an art piece for school in 11th grade.
I went to KSA (Kamloops School of the Arts) and we had to make a presentation of something from our Major class.
This presentation was a requirement for graduation but this was the year when Covid first hit and I wasn’t sure how to do most of the ideas I already had in mind. My major was not art at the time, it was film but I couldn’t create a video without support and had to scrap the entire film I was producing.
It took me an entire month to figure out what I was going to do but had remembered that there was an old skateboard I had when I was ten years old that I could possibly restore and make a new art piece onto the board.
So I got to work! Making this beautiful design onto the board, giving me a 30 out of 30 mark and in the end, it was worth it.
No experience in painting and with only five colors, this was my finished product!
