Braiding Sweetgrass ~ Continues May 19
You are encouraged to join a free upcoming Book Study sponsored by KAIROS. It will be held on Zoom over the course of 5 Wednesdays starting April 21, 2021, from 4 to 5:15 Pacific Time.
The book “Braiding Sweetgrass“, beautifully written by Robin Wall Kimmerer, is subtitled “Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants.” The author describes sweetgrass as “the sweet-smelling hair of Mother Earth.” She says that in Western tradition the recognized hierarchy of beings puts the human on top, as the pinnacle of evolution, and the plants at the bottom. But in Indigenous ways of knowing, humans are thought to have the least experience with how to live, and thus the most to learn. We must look to the wisdom of other species for guidance. They teach us by example.
