25 years “Affirmiversary” Photos
Enjoy these photos of the worship service Sunday, May 16, 2021 celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Kamloops United Church as an affirming church. Fondly referred to as our “Affirmiversary”. The service was informative (Introduction to Affirm at KUC and Affirm into the Future at KUC with Chris Dolson), celebratory (guest speakers and letters from former KUC clergy) and musical. Heartfelt. Patric McColl present the History of Affirm at KUC. She spoke as one who was an active participant in the process of becoming affirming as a congregation and read letters from Rev. Don Robertson, Rev. Dr. Paul Newman, Rev.Dr. Alan Richards and Graham Louden (he/him). Rev. Blair Odney, President Pacific Mountain Region Council shared memories of the 1988 General Council vote that the United Church of Canada welcome and include All in membership and leadership. He also spoke at a personal level of his memories of KUC moving towards the vote taken on May 12, 1996 to become an affirming church. Rev. Michael Blair, General Secretary of the United Church of Canada graced us with a contemporary reflection on the scripture. Rev.Dr. Michael Caveney and music director Tomas Bijok and along with the sound and broadcast team (Dale and RonR) brought this wonderful service to life.
