More PIE ! *Public, Intentional, Explicit.
Affirm United/S’Affirmer Ensemble and Affirming Connections decided in 2018 to adopt Pi day (3.14 March 14) to celebrate P.I.E, which stands for Public, Intentional and Explicit;
Kamloops United has embraced the principle of PIE to guide our Affirming action. And that’s why the Queen of Hearts and some willing knaves were outside on the front steps of the church, handing out mini-PIEs…aka tarts…along with a message of the loving and Affirming welcome for all, here at KUC.
We handed out about 8 dozen buttertarts, some to KUC folk and some to folk who were passers-by. There was some Pride-flag waving and dancing on our 4th Avenue corner. And the response of the community was fantastic…there were lots of supportive horn honks and waves from drivers going by, and some beautiful comments of gratitude from walkers who stopped to see what was happening. And KUC was happening! Publicly. Intentionally. And Explicitly.
I want to extend a huge thank you to the helpers from KUC and Kamloops Pride, and of course to the Queen of Hearts who was representing! Chris, KUC Affirming Ministry.
