Summary of A Good War Book Study Sessions
February, 2021
I’m grateful for the group that gathered to discuss the climate action book A Good War: Mobilizing Canada for the Climate Emergency by Seth Klein. We met online over two Wednesday nights in January (on Zoom). A total of 16 people joined in.
The book explore, and our conversation together about the book considered, how we can align politics and the economy with what the science says we must do to address the climate crisis. The major insight of the book is that there are significant and revealing lessons from Canada’s mobilization for the Second World War.
“Canada’s wartime experience, Klein contends, provides an inspirational reminder that we have done this before. We have mobilized in common cause across class, race and gender, and entirely retooled our economy in the space of a few short years.”
Currently, our online learning programs continue into February with an exploration of ‘Soulful TED Talks’. We had 35 people join for the first session of four sessions total. We will provide a list of the four TED Talks when the program is completed.
