Re: Invitation to join Moose Hide Campaign Day February 11, 2021: KUC has a supply of Moose Hide pins available for folks to pick up.
Dear United Church of Canada representatives,
On behalf of the Moose Hide Campaign it is our honour to invite you, and all members of your
faith communities across Canada, to join our 10th annual Moose Hide Campaign Day on
February 11, 2021.
The Moose Hide Campaign is an Indigenous-born grassroots movement of Indigenous and nonIndigenous men and boys who are standing up against violence towards women and
children. The Campaign invites all Canadians from all genders, backgrounds and cultures to
stand with us to help end violence against all women and children. A cornerstone of the Moose
Hide Campaign is the moose hide pin. These can be ordered for free off our website. Wearing
the moose hide pin signifies your commitment to honour, respect, and protect the women and
children in your life and speak out against gender-based and domestic violence.
Now more than ever, your leadership and example are needed to help address the rising levels
of violence against women and children in our country, an issue that has only been exacerbated
by the pandemic.
This is a tangible Reconciliation in Action opportunity for Canadians in every corner of Canada.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this will be the first year our gathering will be held entirely
online, where we will guide attendees through a virtual day of ceremony, keynote speeches,
and interactive workshops.
We have an engaging and diverse line-up of virtual workshops to choose from on the themes of
anti-violence and healthy gender roles, traditional cultural and wellness practices and
ceremony and reconciliation. Click for more information about each workshop.
Register now to participate! It’s free and you’ll receive the latest updates, early access to the
event microsite and workshops, as well as early-bird prize draws.
On Moose Hide Campaign Day, thousands of men and women across Canada will be fasting in
ceremony to show their commitment to honour and respect the women and children in their

lives. Churches can show their support for this important cause by:
1. Ordering pins – they are free and ship anywhere in Canada (We have a non-leather,
Naugahyde option if preferred)
2. Involving your church by registering your staff and congregants for the event and
receiving links to the event microsite and workshops
3. Helping congregations learn about the Campaign and build excitement for the day by
distributing moose hide pins
4. On February 11, 2021 – Moose Hide Campaign Day – invite everyone to wear their
pins and participate in the livestream and workshops
5. Share the story on social media with #MooseHideCampaignDay – or in your church
bulletin or newsletter
The simple act of wearing the moose hide pin is creating a cultural shift in our country. If one
conversation has been sparked for each of the 2 million moose hide pins we have distributed
since 2011, then Canadians have now had 2 million conversations about ending violence against
women and children. Join us in our efforts to reach our goal of distributing 10 million moose
hides!
As an Indigenous innovation for all Canadians, the Campaign is a practical way for Canadians to
implement the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada Calls to Action, and the Calls for
Justice of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.
We would be deeply honoured if your staff and congregations across Canada would join us for
what we believe will be another milestone in our nation’s journey of reconciliation and
our collective effort to create a country where all women and children are safe.
Sincerely,
