Global Movie Night December Recommendations
Winter and Christmas are upon us, and here are a couple of inspiring classics about overcoming adversity that are worth checking out or returning to:
Indian Horse (2018), based on the novel by Richard Wagamese. This is powerful and so moving. “Indian Horse follows the life of Canadian First Nations boy, Saul Indian Horse, as he survives residential school and life amongst the racism of the 1970s. A talented hockey player, Saul must find his own path as he battles stereotypes and alcoholism.”
Joyeux Noel (Merry Christmas) (2005). We may be facing adversity right now, but this film puts it in perspective. “On the Christmas Eve of 1914, in the Western Front in France in World War I, the Scottish, the German and the French troops have a moment of truce and share moments of peace and friendship.”
So curl up with some hot chocolate or ‘nog and enjoy! Merry Christmas!
Cheers, George Johnson
