Minister’s Message: Nov. 8
Minister’s Message
Have you ever had a song that keeps repeating in your mind over and over again? Like many of you, I have been following the American presidential election wondering what will happen next. Who of is isn’t getting just a little bit fed up with COVID. In fact, my thoughts have been a little bit in the vein of some of the Old Testament characters and their lamentations like “How much longer O God must we suffer?” So in the midst of these thoughts, a song began to play in my mind: “Ev’ry Day is a Day of Thanksgiving”.
It is a wonderful song that was reminding me that instead of thinking how “cursed” I am to think about how blessed I am. As I thought about these words, it seemed as if the compass of my feelings began to reorient towards the positive things in my life. I began with thinking what a beautiful day it was. I was able to see how thankful I was for things I normally take for granted.
I like the line in the song that goes, “You opened the door that I might see, you’re blessing me.” Sometimes I am so blind to the light of all of the good in life that it seems as if the darkness might overwhelm me. I just have to remember to take the time to make sure that the door is open so that I might see the blessings that God is giving me.
