This Remembrance Sunday and we honored those of our country who served in wars past and present. Commencing with Marg Waldon playing a medley of “Wartime Remembrances” on the Allen organ, which was reinstalled this past week following the sanctuary renovations, music was a highlight of our service. This service continues the worship series entitled, “Engage Your Faith!” Every Sunday until Advent, we consider how when we engage the world, our faith comes alive and we open up to new possibilities. We consider our world and our neighbours through Jesus’ eyes. We also see that we live in a world deeply loved by God.
During this service we look at “Engaging our Time”. How do we react when things in life are difficult? What happens when we feel that we are at the end of our resources? The scripture reading for this service is a story told by Jesus about ten bridesmaids who are waiting for wedding to start. The groom is very late and some of them run out of oil in their lamps…the sermon title is: “When the Oil Runs Out.”
We were delighted to be joined on the live-stream (virtually) by Trinity United Church in Vernon, with a member of that congregation reading the scriptures (videotaped).
