Hello members of our KUC family!
We, the Sunday School team, were thrilled with the positive response to our new Sunday school program, which we debuted in February of this year. Unfortunately, our program came to a screeching halt with the announcement of the closing of the church due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Since then, we have met (via Zoom) to discuss options for virtual programs in the fall. Given that most children have been doing the majority of their learning at home, we felt it would not be a good idea to add to their (and their guardians’) load by offering even more structured at-home learning opportunities. But we wanted to find something that we could offer families so that they could continue their children’s (and grandchildren’s) faith development during the run of the pandemic. Something simple, easy, and fun.
The Pacific Mountain Region has put together a program that I feel will offer children and their families a simple, easy, and fun way to continue exploring their faith. We have ordered sets of these faith-at-home kits from the regional office and would like to extend an invitation to all our members to receive a complimentary package. The kits are complete, so that parents don’t have to scramble for art and craft supplies. Each kit includes comprehensive instructions for each activity. Please reserve your kit (and specify whether you would like the pre-school/Kindergarten kit or the Elementary kit) by responding to this email or contacting the church office at 250-372-3020. As we have ordered a limited supply of kits, please contact us at your earliest convenience.
Below is an excerpt from the regional office’s website regarding the kits:
“This kit is designed to encourage and excite families in your community of faith to share, engage and create with the stories of Moses and Miriam and the People of God (based on some of the readings from the lectionary for this season). There are prayer practices and activities simple for families to do that foster all ages in their connection with God. There are suggestions for ways in which we can live out our lives as disciples of Jesus. In the full kit, you will find all the supplies a household would need to do the activities (except basic supplies like scissors, felt pens or crayons, tape, etc).”
I am available to answer any questions you may have concerning this program.
