Virtual Worship Sunday Sept.13
Join us this Sunday as we livestream our service from the renovated sanctuary. Participating in worship will be the new KUC music director, Tomas Bijok and the new spiritual coordinator, Dan Hines. Michael Caveney will be preaching from Exodus 14 where the Israelites flee the Egyptians only to be blocked by the Red Sea in a sermon entitled: “Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea.” This is the first Sunday of the season of Creation, the “orange” season in the church year. It is a new season, calling us to consider our place in creation and in relation to the Creator. It reminds us that God can be seen and experienced in all creation, not only within human history. Creation time looks at our connection with nature our, at times, wrongful domination, and exploration of creation. We also reflect upon our abuse of God’s trust in us (In the book of Genesis, God gives us stewardship over creation.) and we pledge to reform our ways. As an entry point into Creation Time, think of what the colour orange might mean: endurance and strength, fire and flame, the red of passion tempered by the yellow of wisdom, the colour of harvest, fruitfulness and joy, the colour of positive energy, the colour of change, the colour of excitement.
