PIT Stop ‘Take Away Dinner” Mar.15~
Today’s PIT Stop meal was our first ever, 100% take away dinner.
Our decision to not have a sit down meal due to COVID-19 concerns was a bit difficult to make but we knew that we need to be reactive to the cautions that are needed for social gathering events. As it turned out, it truly was a complete success.
Enough can’t be said of the amazing group of volunteers from 100 Women Who Care who worked so diligently to streamline a new order of service for our guests. They were absolutely wonderful. This group of passionate people were utterly determined to make sure that our guests had a wholesome, generous, safe, and delicious dinner – and that is exactly what happened.
However, what earned the respect of every single one of us in the church today, was the attitude of our 218 guests! Every one of them was grateful, appreciative, respectful, and considerate. They were overwhelmingly happy that the volunteers made sure that there was a meal for them. For many of our guests who may feel downtrodden or disadvantaged, this may have been a moment in which they might have complained about not being able to have a meal inside a warm building, or that there was a long line to get food. But none of that happened. In spite of being a pretty cold afternoon, all of the guests understood what we were doing and why. Our group of guests today earned huge admiration from all of us, myself included. Thank you to all.
As well, big thanks to Adam Donnelly for coming by this afternoon to capture the changes that happened today. You can see his coverage on the evening news tomorrow (Monday).
