Sunday, Feb. 9th Rachel will “pass the music baton” to Cindy Darwin, our new “KUC Music Animator”.
We thought you might like to “hear” a bit about Cindy:
“The themes of music performance and education have woven their way through Cindy’s life in BC, Alberta, and Quebec. Cindy’s earliest, music-related memories include singing four-part harmony with her family at home and at church; writing, directing, and presenting original music and dialogue as a primary-school student; and teaching piano and choir beginning at the age of twelve. Later, as an adult, Cindy had the opportunity to expand and diversify her musical experience and skills, through her university studies and professional projects.
Over the past 25+ years, as a certified B.C. teacher, Cindy has led choirs of all ages, and helped plan and facilitate music for United, Anglican, and evangelical worship services. She has also taught private music lessons, designed elementary and high school music courses, and provided piano-vocal ambiance at community events, private functions, restaurants, and piano bars.
After acquiring her Master of Education (Counselling) in 2017, Cindy left teaching in order to focus on her private counselling practice, which she shares with David, her life partner of twentyseven years. She attends Kamloops United Church with David and their three young-adult sons. Cindy feels honoured to serve KUC as its part-time music director (on Thursdays and Sunday mornings). She sincerely hopes that her twin passions for meaningful music and relationships, as demonstrated in her work at KUC, will contribute to an ever-deepening experience and expression of love for God and neighbour that reaches beyond our church doors.”
