Rick W., PIT Stop coordinator reflects on 2018:
“Well, 2018 is in the books and it could not have ended better. The wonderful team from RBC led by the amazing Gail Harris took us home with a spaghetti dinner that fed 147 very happy guests. Well done Team RBC! In addition, RBC donated $1,000 to PIT Stop – told you it couldn’t have ended better!
We had an eventful, exciting and sometimes challenging year. We served 9418 guests in 2018. That is 868 more meals than 2017.
We had 30 unique teams sign up for one or more Sundays, and we had more than 500 volunteers participate with many more on the volunteer list eager to help but who didn’t get a chance in 2018.
We strengthened our relationships with donors who kept us in the black this year, and with suppliers such as the Kamloops Food Bank who made it possible to keep our budget really, really low.
PIT Stop volunteers provided to our guests much love, shelter, warmth, clothing, companionship, respect, dignity, compassion…and, oh yeah, food! Delicious, nutritious, hearty and comforting meals. More than 9400 heaping plates of sustenance.
I cannot thank all of you enough for what you did this past year. I so look forward to 2019!”
