Drum Making photos
What a great hands on workshop. Thanks to Deana who shared an amazing, fun workshop with an enthusiastic group.
“It is a great pleasure to pass along this very special spiritual and sacred gift, the moose hide hand drum, still considered one of the oldest known instruments on the Earth. The hand drum is regarded as a highly sacred part of The Native American culture and also one of the most important instruments since the beginning of time. History says the Heartbeat of the drum reflects the Heartbeat of Mother Earth; it’s the healing rhythm we hear around the Earth during pow wows, ceremonies, celebrations, Round dances, feasts and many other forms of Gatherings. Elders have taught the drum….carries with it a Spirit.” Deana Nicholson
One participant said, ” It was really fun and a learning experience. Our drums are made of moose hide. If a hide is tanned by hand it is a lot of work.”
