Finding Spirit in Everything! As fall activities rev up one can feel the energy level rising at KUC. Administrative Manager Florence reports that the cost recovery on space at KUC is now at capacity. Programs like Labyrinth walks, Jazz Vespers and United Church Women have resumed and new learning opportunities and special events have taken place. At a “Focus Forward” meeting Council Circle set the objectives for the coming council year. You can read the 2018-2019 Objectives and Goals on the website (Who We Are/Guiding Documents) or on the bulletin board in the main hallway at the church.
Everyone from the church and from the community is encouraged to attend KUC activities and events. We have already enjoyed the Pride Walk at TRU, Spirituality Through Aging, a Kairos Blanket Exercise, a play, a Global film, a Blues Band and look forward to a Community Lunch, an Organ Soiree, Spirituality of Pets and in November the Fall Fair and a Public Forum on Privilege sponsored by Discovery Circle. Events are posted on the website and a weekly eBlast from the Office. Did you know that the Home page of the website and the Facebook page are updated daily? Also, the minutes of Council meetings are posted on the main bulletin board for you to read.
We have two very important initiatives happening right now. An enthusiastic group aptly named the Organ Group are now receiving financial pledges of support from the congregation and people in the community towards purchase of a replacement organ.
NOTE: a congregational meeting will be held on October 28th to make a decision about purchase of the Allen organ that is currently on loan to us. The vote will be by secret ballot to ensure that all voices are heard.
The second initiative is the Ministry Profile and Search Committee who are currently gathering data and seeking input to prepare a report recommending what we seek in a new minister. The committee members are Chair Ron Routledge, Ray Sewell, Chris Dolson, Marcia Julian, Jan Vint and Geoff Gibbard.
NOTE: a congregational meeting will be held November 18th for approval of the MPSC report. The same meeting will also include a vote to approve the Legacy Fund Committee report.
Participation in a church community through learning and helping out is a great way to get to know other people and have them come to know you. We encourage you to join in.
