Council Circle Summer Update
So much to do! So little time to do it! Things are happening at KUC! Time to bring everyone up to date for the summer.
TESTING TESTING!
As you know our organ has given all it has to give and is no longer able to be repaired. We thank it for its many years of service. It is up to the congregation to decide what to do next. In the fall there will be a chance for everyone to weigh in on the next steps we take on this and other ideas.
It is hard to know what we have been missing as our organ has been going down hill for a long time. The Allen distributor has offered to place an organ in the sanctuary for a period of approximately two months so that we can test it out. We will be able to hear the capabilities of this modern instrument. Please enjoy the opportunity to hear this lovely organ. We look forward to your comments. This loaner organ will appear in the sanctuary very soon. (Florence, Marg W).
SEARCHING!
The Council nominating team is putting together an awesome team to begin the process of finding a new minister (summer 2019). A congregational meeting will be called for September 9th to approve the team before they begin their work on September 16th.
ANTICIPATING!
The United Church of Canada 43rd General Council event “Risking Faith Daring Hope” runs July 21- 27th in Oshawa, Ontario. There are several very interesting candidates running for Moderator. Moderator Nominees. This will be a pivotal year as the new structure of the United Church of Canada is unrolled.
Kamloops United continues with exciting programs and opportunities all summer:
lots of music, the KamPride parade, the “Express Yourself” Art Show August 25 at KUC, happy campers out at Camp Grafton, PIT Stop dinners… and more. Don’t forget the Kamloopa Powwow August 3-5th at the Tk’emlups te Secwepemc Powwow Grounds in Kamloops.
The celebration of Muriel Cluett’s 100th birthday was truly the icing on the cake this summer.
