Council met three times in January, more than usual. First we met with Terri MIndel to receive her Cultural Safety Report and recommendations. Then we met to vote on Remit #6 “One Order of Ministry” which required some background preparation to understand clearly. Kathy J., Maia and Bruce helped us walk through the process. This completes our voting on General Council 42 remits*.
At the regular monthly council meeting we reviewed the Interim Report on Regional Councils (Remit #1) and sent our opinion regarding the B.C. regions to Presbytery and to the Regional Boundaries Committee. For more information, contact any member of Council Circle. Also on the agenda were renewal of Diane Stuart’s license as Licensed Lay Worship Leader, and focus on the 2018 Objectives and Goals for KUC. Copies are available on the bulletin board and the website under “About Us/Guiding Documents”.
KUC ended 2017 in a positive financial position. Preparation for the Annual Financial Meeting on February 18, 2018 is well underway. We hope you are enjoying the personal and authentic stories of the Narrative Budget being shared with us on Sunday mornings.
“What are you hearing?” At every council meeting we take time to talk over comments or questions that have been raised by folks in the congregation or others who use our building. Between Bruce, Florence and the members of council we take your concerns seriously. If you have feedback for us please do be in touch. Council Circle members are: Marnie, Chris, Gail, Sue, Jan, Anne, Carole & Maia, Karen & Marcia, Bruce and Florence.
The Camp Grafton Society AGM will be held February 5th at 7pm. Please consider coming out to show your support and appreciation for this dedicated group who care for our camp.
There will be lots happening at KUC in the coming weeks – come and participate!
