Global and Community Action is once again offering a Giving Tree to collect donations during the Advent Season beginning Sunday Dec. 3rd. To donate please use the specially marked envelopes, located in a basket under the Christmas Tree, and place in the offering stand.
You can also give your offering gift to the church office. Once you have made a donation, please place a JOY decoration on the tree.
This year, the theme of the Giving Tree is “Joy”. What makes you happy? What brings you joy? How do you feel bringing joy to others? At Kamloops United, we would like to spread the joy. As is our custom, we have picked three recipients to share in any funds raised from the Tree of Joy – a local, a national and an international recipient, they are:
Local: Kikékyelc, (kee-kek-yel-c), Housing Complex – Kikékyelc: A Place of Belonging; To cover young protectively, how birds wrap wings around their young.
– A 30-unit housing complex being built on Singh St. for urban Indigenous youth aging out of care (all genders, 16 to 24), with a few units reserved for elders, in keeping with Lii Michif Otipemisiwak’s, (LMO), desire to foster intergenerational connections. More information: http://bit.ly/2AcHxtX
National: ‘Food For the North’ – From the 2017 Mission and Service ‘Gifts With Vision’ Catalogue (Pg 10). This will provide gift cards for groceries in four First Nation communities in northern Manitoba and Ontario. More information: http://bit.ly/2i0jiVC
