Thank you! Thank you! Thank You!
Letter from Chris Dolson,
Hello everyone,
I just wanted to send a note of thanks to everyone who participated with us on Sunday, August 20 in the Kamloops Pride Parade and “Out in the Street” event in Riverside Park. I also want to thank all those who supported and encouraged this effort by the KUC Affirming ministry but who were unable to join in at this particular event.
I don’t have an exact count but there were at least 22 of us (including baby Sage) from KUC that walked in the parade, and/or looked after our booth. There were many many more who although unable to attend, expressed good wishes and sent us on our way with positive energy.
I think our booth looked great, and our group in our shirts looked great, and our banners looked great. Thanks go to truck drivers, and table and tent erectors (and taker-downers!). Thanks to garland stringers, and boa wranglers, and pamphlet printers, and rainbow-fish carers, and lollipop sticker-stickers and hander-outers, and choir recruiters, and booth ambassadors, and walkers, and everyone who represented KUC so well.
Besides not being able to actually hear the speakers when we were lined up in our lanes, I think everything else about the day was a tremendous success, and the response of the community….all those spectators on Victoria St.!!!!….who knew?
Again, thank you to everyone for helping us show the Kamloops community that KUC is an Affirming church…and we were “Out in the Street” , in our community, affirming it!
I hope that this will continue to be a thriving celebration for the City of Kamloops and that participation in the Kamloops Pride parade will be an annual event for Kamloops United Church.
Sincerely,
Chris Dolson
