Plan for “KUC Walks with PRIDE”: Aug. 20
Sunday, August 20 is the day we walk with Pride!!
KUC will “walk the walk” as an Affirming congregation with Kamloops Pride in the first downtown “Out in the Street” Pride Parade.
Worship begins at 9 a.m. at KUC, and then we move to Riverside Park to take part in the celebration.
Painted KUC Pride t-shirts, and feather boas are still available! Pick yours up at church before the parade!
Bring your own water and probably a hat.
Park strategically. To accommodate parade participants, Victoria Street will be closed to traffic, and one lane of Lansdowne will also be closed.
EVENT INFORMATION
Prior to 10 a.m, the KUC booth will be set up in Riverside Park (thanks to Florence and Shane).
After worship at KUC ends, we move to the park and will gather at our KUC booth.
10:00am – 10:30am – Organization check-in
One person from our group will check in with parade organizers and receive coloured stickers, one for each member of our group.
We are to wear our stickers and at 10:30 we will muster as a group in the lane corresponding to the sticker colour.
10:30am – 10:45am – Parade welcome and mustering to begin
We are to stay with our group, in the assigned lane, behind the leaders.
11:00am – Parade begins
Make noise, have fun, stay with the group, stay in our order in lane. Engage with spectators.
We have two banners that will require two people each to carry in parade.
Parade moves up First Ave., along Victoria St., down Fifth Ave., west on Lansdowne, and back into park.
12:30pm – 2:00pm – Community celebration in Riverside Park
Stay…enjoy the entertainment!
We will need volunteers to staff our booth in short shifts from 10-2.
Eat ice cream !
2:00pm – Event end and clean-up
