LOCAL HERO RICK WINDJACK – a headline in today’s Kamloops This Week.
Quote:
“The Local Hero Award was set up by our district governor Vern, who wanted every club to award a Paul Harris Fellow recognition to someone in the community that went above and beyond.
Rick Windjack is the coordinator for Pit Stop at the Kamloops United Church. He goes way beyond his duties as just being the person in charge. He is very thoughtful to the clients, helping with there various needs, such as preparing meals to go at the start of the meal time for people who are not allowed in or do not want to come in at the time of meal service.
He also does dinners by himself on some no Sunday events. Rick just shows such passion for his job and treats people with dignity. I remember him saying one time ‘we want them to be treated like they are coming to a “fine restaurant” for Sunday dinner’. He does not judge or refuse service to anyone – he tries to accommodate all their needs. He is always happy and smiling. He is very eager to congratulate you on a job well done! Lynda MacKenzie, Kamloops Rotary Daybreak Pit Stop Coordinator, presented the award to Rick Winjack at the Friday morning Rotary Meeting held at Hotel 540″
Congratulations Rick!
