Hello PIT Stop Friends,
I would like to update all of you as to this Sunday’s Christmas Dinner.
We have had wonderful and amazing support – as always! – from this terrific community.
Donations have been coming in to the church like crazy. And not just donations for the gift bags, but also coats, jackets, boots, clothing, toys, food, etc., etc. Things that will be so important beyond this weekend. Thank you all so very much.
I’m going to note one group in particular that I’m sure you will all appreciate. Mr. Powrie and Ms. Clarkes’ ‘Me To We’ classes from Aberdeen Elementary School were determined to collect items for PIT Stop. See the attached picture that I took at their school today. I could barely fit everything into my van! And not only that, these students are going to come to the church this Saturday to sort and pack those 250 gift bags!
Donna and I have had a chance to look at the items that we have as of today. Here’s where I think we are:
We have enough of: toothbrushes, paste and floss; baby wipes; diapers; pet treats; toilet tissue; small shampoo & conditioner; cloth bags(thank you Safeway); lip balm
We could still use:
Anti-perspirant – Mens 140 and Ladies 70
Warm Socks – Mens 45 pair and Ladies 15 pair
Gloves – Mens 130 pair and Ladies 17 pair
Razors – Mens 25 and Ladies 20
Toques – Mens 45
Bar Soaps – 50
Hot Chocolate – 180 individual packages
Wash Cloths – 180
Hand Towels – 200
As well there are a couple things that may be a bit more difficult. One is that I would really like to get 250 individual hand sanitizers – but they must be alcohol free. I’m not even sure if they are available. If anyone could help me with this it would be appreciated.
Also, I would very much like to include in the gift bags a treat which might not always be available to our guests. I have about 55 Ferrero Rocher chocolate 3 packs which came from Walmart at $1.00 each. I would like to see if we could get 190 more so that each bag has one. I’m attaching a picture for that as well.
Thanks again everyone for helping – and I don’t mean just now. Thanks for everything you do all year long.
Rick W. PIT Stop Coordinator.
