“Spirituality of Food”, an interactive workshop led by former KUC member and nutritionist Rose Soneff, was enjoyed by 10 participants on an October Saturday. We began the day discussing our individual relationship to food. Rose then gave a historical review of meals and food, paying particular attention to the changes brought by recent technological innovations and social movements such as the feminist movement and working women. We looked at different perspectives on food in different cultures, the relationship between hospitality and food and the mystery /spirituality of food contained in one little seed. Rose led us in all making lunch for the group, and then sharing the common meal. We ended the day with each person contributing to a communal prayer about food and spirituality.
