People from the wider community joined with the KUC community in celebration this weekend. In the midst of much to celebrate, the main celebrations on this busy weekend were the completion of 429 St. Paul (our housing and space renovation project), our 20th anniversary as an affirming congregation and our becoming a Centre for Community and Spiritual Discovery.
A “Block Party” was held on part of 4th Avenue on Saturday, May 14th, including musicians, buskers,.clowns, an art show featuring a variety of mediums from members and friends of KUC, an historical display, and a cafe. The May 15th Sunday service and luncheon began with a hymn sing. We were delighted to have, as our guest preacher, Rev.Keith Simmonds, President of B.C. Conference of the United Church (currently in ministry with the congregation of Duncan United and formerly a member of KUC). A fun picnic lunch followed the service and a digital presentation of some of KUC’s history was available to view.
Our wonderful weekend of celebration culminated with a Handbell Concert Sunday evening.
