Celebrate 20 Years! May 14/15
Come and celebrate our twenty years as an affirming congregation. Kamloops United Church is one of only 15 Affirming congregations in BC, and one of 125 Affirming (out of over 2900) congregations across Canada.
Twenty years ago, on May 12, 1996 KUC became one of the first United Churches in Canada to declare themselves as being an Affirming congregation. The journey to reach that decision in the spring of 1996 stretched over nearly two decades, and we give thanks to those who recognized the call, and who did not waver in nudging the congregation towards becoming truly Affirming.
The following statement was added to the mission statement on May 12, 1996: ‘Kamloops United Church welcomes and embraces all persons who seek to live faithfully, regardless of sexual orientation, age, gender, racial or ethnic background, and affirm that all are welcome to become full participants in the life, membership and leadership of this church.’
This important anniversary in the life of our church will be celebrated in worship on Sunday, May 15th with Rev. Keith Simmonds, President of B.C. Conference as our guest.
