What does it mean to Come/Be Out? What are some of the challenges facing LGBTQ people navigating this deeply personal process? Does Being Out feel liberating and empowering or does it instead expose LGBTQ people to more discrimination?
Join the TRUSU Equity Committee for a holistic, accessible discussion about these questions and Coming and Being Out for LGBTQ folks and allies! This is your opportunity to learn more about the Coming and Being Out process, hear about the experiences of LGBTQ students, faculty, and staff, and ask all the questions you may have been afraid to ask!
The discussion will start at 6 pm on October 9, 2015 in the TRUSU Lecture Hall. This event will feature a panel discussion of LGBTQ students, faculty, and community members sharing their experiences and thoughts about Coming/Being Out, small breakout groups allowing participants the ability to discuss issues raised through the discussion in a more comfortable environment, and an anonymous question and answer session for participants to raise questions and get answers in a confidential and respectful manner.
