Two election kits have been prepared to help individuals and congregations consider the issues of social justice that are before us in this election. One is produced by the United Church of Canada, and the other by a group of ecumenical organizations.
Issues considered in one or the other of the kits include climate change, refugees, poverty, gender identity inclusion, health care, peace in the Middle East, consultation with 1st Nations, physical assisted death, human rights, international aid, Canada’s military mission in Iraq and Syria, and others.
Suggested questions to pose to candidates are also included in both resources. The UCC kit may be accessed at http://www.united-church.ca/ getinvolved/takeaction/election, and the ecumenical kit can be accessed at www.kairoscanada.org or http://www.canadiancouncilofchurches.ca.
