An interactive forum theatre performance will be held in Kamloops, Saturday, March 14, at Thompson Rivers University – Campus Activity Centre, Grand Hall, 7:30 p.m.
If you know anyone who is currently accessing any type of human service, we would like to give them a complementary ticket. The purpose of this performance is to get people talking about mental health and work towards improving the system of care, so we want those with lived experience to join us. If you know someone who would like a complementary ticket, please let us know at 250-374-4634 Ext 203 and ask for Sian.
‘Maladjusted’ is about mental health, and how those who struggle with this significant health issue face stigma and barriers to accessing support and services. “The performance explores the mechanization of the mental health system and how stigmatization of mental health issues happens inside the system itself. The production, created and performed by mental health patients and caregivers, is a “true voice” that seeks local solutions to this issue in terms of ways to provide and receive more “human centred” care.”
The dialogue generated by this performance, including audience participation, will result in recommendations that will hopefully influence policy at the provincial level in terms of how to improve and humanize the mental health care system.
