A Plea from the Centre at Naramata
Dear Friends,
The Centre at Naramata is at a crossroads. For over 67 years it has transformed the lives of countless people of all ages and has been a spiritual home to which people return year after year. However our financial resources are now exhausted. In order to prevent the Centre from closing at year end, the Board of Directors has initiated a Crossroads Campaign to raise $500,000 by the end of November.
Join us, as people with passion for the Centre, and be founders of this new vision.
Here is the background for the Crossroads Campaign
To continue operating we need a collective agreement
The Centre have a strategy and funding which they believe will settle this dispute. We are in mediation and have made progress.
We need to raise $500,000 to operate in 2015 and to set in place a financially viable vision for the future
No further funding from British Columbia Conference is available beyond the $2.6 million secured loan and the Centre Board is unwilling to assume more debt.
To secure the legacy and spiritual nature of the Centre, we have a strategy to operate in 2015 and beyond
Provide simpler summer experiences and extended stay retreats (revenue)
Develop youth and young adult leadership
Expand the practices of our Intentional Christian Community
Engage with stakeholders about stewardship of the land and buildings (repurposing) and living within our means (sustainability)
Consult with church stakeholders about lay leadership development, serving the emerging church and continuing education and sabbatical for ministry personnel
We need your support both in prayers and in money generously given. Please consider making a confidential pledge by November 30, 2014. Your pledge to this campaign would be over and above your regular giving to the Centre.
We are deeply grateful for your prayers and generosity.
On behalf of the Board of Directors
Sandy Navrady
