Lenten Lectures at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Thursdays during Lent, at 360 Nicola St.
Exploring the Light and Shadow of the Spiritual Life.
Human beings are a complex mixture of sacred opposites. This year’s Lenten Lecture Series explores the balance of shadow and light in the human condition through the lens of the Seven Virtues and Vices: (often referred to as the Seven Holy Virtues and the Seven Deadly Sins, or the Capital Vices and Cardinal Sins).
Speakers will each address one of the shadow/light pairings and offer a reflective lecture on how this specific Virtue and Vice is evident in the individual (the soul) and the collective community and how the soul’s journey through awareness can be enriched and more closely connected to the Holy One: God.
Using the tools of theology, story, scripture and social science, we will courageously uncover the complexity of the human spirit in its motivations and desire to live fully in balance. It promises to be a deep conversation that will provoke thoughts about spirituality, ethics, consciousness, behaviour, choice, transformation, forgiveness and holiness.
Join us as we walk the Lenten path together and study the way of the human seeking the sacred Divine Way that includes both Darkness and Light: Good Friday and Easter.
