Call to Worship (from Psalm 95:1-2, 6-7a)
“O come, let us sing to the Lord;
let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
Let us come into God’s presence with thanksgiving;
let us make a joyful noise to God with songs of praise!
O come, let us worship and bow down,
let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!
For the Lord is our God, and we are the people of God’s pasture.”
Let us worship, for there is no better place to be!
O Creator God, our souls thirst for your presence. When we find ourselves in desert times, in Lenten wilderness we call for you and turn to you in worship. We trust that from you will come our living water, from you will come refreshing streams, from you will come the life we long for and the hope we need. Gather us in worship we pray. Amen.
Singing: Voices United # 222 ‘Come, Let Us Sing’
A Lenten Candle Liturgy
Deep wells, deep yearnings. We are thirsty for more than water.
We take one step at a time. God’s faithful presence and provision attend us.
Let us journey through the shadows toward the light.
(A candle is extinguished.)
Singing: Voices United # 108 ‘Throughout These Lenten Days and Nights’ verse 3
Prayer of Confession
O Holy One you know us. You know our past and present, and you hold our future. You know the parts of us that we find difficult to accept, the things we struggle to let go of, and the steps we would rather not take. You know us better than we know ourselves. Be with us as we come before you. Help us to see and feel your continued grace and healing and love in our lives and in the life of the world. Open us to your spirit we pray…
Sung Response: More Voices # 77 ‘Be Still and Know’ (2x)
An Assurance of God’s Love
By grace, we can be still and know God’s love.
By faith, we can trust that we are loved beyond measure.
By hope, we can live out God’s forgiveness and freedom.
By grace, faith and hope let us live out God’s love every day.
Thanks be to God.

Our Pastoral Prayers followed by the Lord’s Prayer (Voices United # 959)
O God of haloes and hidden things, in the midst of your creation help us to notice the things we take often take for granted: the return of the robins, the lengthening of days, tulips breaking ground. Help us to notice and to take care of your creation…..
O Christ of the light and darkness, help us to notice the virtues and vices within us all. Open our minds and hearts, our bodies and souls so that we might live in the light while not denying the darkness. Grant us diligence in our work and in our prayers for peace with justice in our world. Today, we continue to pray for the people of Ukraine, Crimea and Russia and all concerned countries. We pray for families and friends and all people affected by the missing Malaysian airliner. We pray for our world…
O Sustaining Spirit, like life-giving water you quench our thirst. Be with us in our joyous times of celebration and in our times of arid, desert-like wilderness. Help us to lean upon you and to trust that you are with us no matter what. Today, we pray for those who are ill…for those who are grieving…for those going through tough transitions…for those named through our prayer box…
We offer all our prayers to you today in the name of Jesus the Christ, who taught us to pray as we sing together the Lord’s Prayer….
