Call to Worship:
You have heard it said, ‘I am spiritual but not religious.’
But I say to you, ‘You can be spiritual and religious.’
You have heard it said, ‘I don’t need the church, I worship while fishing.’
But I say to you, ‘Jesus called the fishers to a new way of life.’
You have heard it said, ‘Those people who go to church are all hypocrites.’
But I say to you, ‘None of us are perfect, God isn’t finished with us yet.’
You have heard many things.
But God says to us, ‘I have called you by name. You are mine. I love you.’
Thanks be to God!
Let us gather in worship to offer our praise and love.
O God of all creation, we give thanks that we can gather in your presence this morning. Be with us in our hearts and hands and voices. Be with us in our thoughts and prayers and silence. Be with us in our time together as we seek to follow Jesus, the foundation of our faith. Be with us in your Spirit who blows where it wills with power, comfort and challenge. Be with us we pray as we sing a song for your creation.
Singing: Voices United # 229 ‘God of the Sparrow’.
Prayer of Confession:
O God of love and grace,
you know the secrets of our hearts;
how blind we are to our own faults,
yet harsh in judging others;
how swift we are to take for gain,
yet slow to give for others;
how proud we are of our success,
yet grudging in our praise of others.
Remember, O God, your tender care and love unfailing. Do not remember the times we have missed the mark, But remember us in your goodness, in accordance with your endless mercy we pray. Amen.
Sung Response: More Voices # 77 ‘Be Still and Know’ (2x)
An Assurance of God’s Love
No matter where we are, God is there.
No matter what we have done, God forgives.
No matter our reluctance to accept God, God has accepted us.
With that assurance, let us live in fullness and in hope.
Thanks be to God.

Our Pastoral Prayers followed by the Lord’s Prayer (Voices United # 959)
O Creator of All, we offer our prayers for the beauty that you have bestowed upon us and all living creatures. Help us to play our rightful part in your creation. Give us the wisdom and will to be your good stewards….
O Christ of Compassion, you ask us to live counter-intuitive lives, beyond the ordinary bounds of conventional rules. Grant us your grace to follow you as disciples, ones who practice Your Kingdom ways here and now….
O Sustaining Spirit you come to us blowing through our lives sometimes like a strong wind and other times like a still small voice. Help us to hear the roar and the whisper and to set our sails in your direction.
O Holy One be with us in our celebrations and sorrows. Today, we pray for those who are ill and those coping with therapy and treatments. We pray for those who are grieving loss through death and other losses as well. We pray for those on the street, those in jail, those who are struggling with addiction, poverty and mental health issues. We pray for the caregivers, the families and friends.
This morning we offer the names of persons, including ourselves, that we hold before you in prayer – aloud or in silence….
We offer our prayers to you today as we sing together the prayer that Jesus taught us….
