Call to Worship:
God’s spirit calls to our spirits, inviting us to worship.
God’s spirit calls to our spirits, inviting us to love.
God’s spirit calls to our spirits; calling us by name, calling us to grow in faith,
calling us to be made anew.
God’s spirit calls to our spirits.
Let us gather for worship today.
Come to us Holy God, as we gather before you;
encircle us with your love.
Bless us with your sustaining presence;
surround us with your grace.
Draw us ‘round your living Word,
and bind us to one another as disciples of Christ,
whose Spirit is in our midst.
We ask for this blessing today we pray. Amen.
Singing: More Voices # 28 ‘God of the Bible’
Prayer of Confession (from the Iona Community)
Holy God, in earth, sea and sky,
you are there; in everything we touch;
in everyone we meet;
your presence is ‘round us,
and we give you thanks.
You we have not touched, but trampled, in creation;
you we have not met, but missed, in one another;
you we have not received, but rejected, in the poor.
Forgive us, we pray…
Sung Response: More Voices # 85 ‘Take, O Take Me as I Am’ (2x)
An Assurance of God’s Love
No matter where we are, God is there.
No matter what we have done, God forgives.
No matter our reluctance to accept God, God accepts us.
With that assurance of God’s love, let us receive the freedom of forgiveness and live in
the fullness of God’s hope and peace.
Thanks be to God.
