Call to Worship:
God welcomes us here, whether we come from close by or many kilometers away.
God rejoices that we are here, just like a loving parent embraces a lost child.
God celebrates that we have come home, to this place of worship.
Let us lift our hearts and voices to God! Let us worship the Creator, Christ and Spirit. Amen.
Opening Prayer: O Loving God, we know that you have made us for yourself and that our hearts are restless until they rest in you. As we pray those ancient words from the early church, be with us now. Gather us this morning trusting that you have made us for yourself. On this Homecoming Sunday still our restless hearts. Bring us home to you once again so that we might truly rest in you. Gather us now as we sing your praise. Amen.

Prayer for Healing and Renewal: O God, we trust that your desire for us to be at home with you and creation, with others and with ourselves. So often though we feel beside ourselves. So often we are out of sorts with others. We know we are off kilter with your creation. And sometimes we don’t sense your presence at all. We feel lost and alone.
Seek us out O God. Bring us to our senses. Centre us and return us home to you and to ourselves. Return us to your creation and community. Bring us home O God. Bring us home without fear. Bring us home with love. Bring us home we pray as we sing together….

An Assurance of God’s Love: Through Jesus the Christ we know the depth of God’s love for us and for all creation. We are never lost. The Spirit seeks us out with a daring and tender love, finding us and calling us home. Rest assured that God’s healing love and compassionate forgiveness is with us all. Thanks be to God. Amen.

Our Offering with Doxology: God’s gifts to us are amazing! We have been richly blessed with gifts of treasure, talent and time. It’s all gift. As Desmond Tutu says, ‘ I am all gift.’ And so are each and every one of us. We are all gift!
This morning we are invited to return a portion of our God-given gifts for the mission and ministry of God’s church. It could be a gift of treasure – some of our money. It could be a gift of talent – some of our skill. It could be a gift of our time – the most precious gift of all. We have been blessed so that we might be a blessing to others. Let us return a portion of our gifts through our offering. May we do so with grateful and generous hearts.
More Voices# 191: ‘What Can I Do?’ (x2)
Prayer of Thanksgiving and Dedication: As we present these gifts today, we present ourselves. We give thanks for the many gifts that are offered – those on these plates and those through our PAR program. May they be used for the work of your church here and across the globe through the M. and S. Fund. And we give thanks for those gifts that are offered through our talent and time as well. Bless all our gifts and bless us too we pray, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Our Pastoral Prayers followed by the Lord’s Prayer (Voices United # 959): O Shepherding God, on this Homecoming Sunday we give thanks for homes that are places of shelter and safety complete with nurturing and growth. And yet, O Holy One we know that not all homes are like this. Some are places of instability or indifference. Some suffer from abuse and violence. Help us to make all our homes – those places where we live and worship and play and learn, places full of life in abundance. May our homes be places where the lost truly can be found…
O Christ incarnate, you search your house until all are found. Find O Christ those who are lost in war and violence – in Syria and in so many other places where refugees are seeking a safe home. Help us to offer our support through governments, churches, NGO’s and in whatever way possible.
O Prince of Peace, we pray that diplomatic solutions might be found so that a just and lasting peace may be secured….
O Sustaining Spirit, we bring before you those who are on our hearts and minds…those who are ill…those coping with treatments…those who are grieving…those in stressful transitions…those named through our prayer box…and for ourselves….We offer all our prayers through Jesus the Christ who taught us the Lord’s Prayer as we sing together…The Lord’s Prayer.
