On behalf of the congregation, Council Circle presented our retiring music director, Mary Jackson with a gift certificate for the purchase of a plant or tree to have at her new Nanaimo home. A meaningful laying on of hands and many wishes for her future happiness supported her as she departed.
We recognized the occasion of Rev. Teri’s last Sunday as our full time minister with a fun presentation (you’d have to have heard her sermon to understand why it was a basket of fruit!!!.. her first.)
We spent a day in retreat with Ministry and Personnel, Ministry Management Team, Staff, Worship and others. Our morning began with a presentation by Rev. Bruce Comrie about his recent sabbatical, the highlights and how he sees this impacting his ministry at KUC. We were excited to learn about the meaning of terms such as “spiritual director” “Messy Church”, “Fresh Expressions”…much to ponder.”
The balance of the morning was spent building on the ideas expressed by the congregation during our table group sessions centering around the idea of being a center for spiritual learning. We have come up with several ideas we will be acting on!!! Stay tuned.
Part of the afternoon found us looking at communication tools within the congregation…from annual report, to Web page to bulletin boards, to newsletter… Again some action plans are in place…keep your eyes and ears open…see if you can discover any places where we are “making all things new”… Marg Waldon, Council Chair
