Alberta Flood Relief
News of the floods in Alberta has shocked Canadians with the devastation resulting in many communities in southern Alberta. Throughout the region, about 175,000 persons were evacuated from their homes. Some of the hardest hit include aboriginal communities. Premier Allison Redford has estimated it may take up to 10 years to restore the infrastructure to its pre-flood conditions. Working with Alberta and NorthWest Conference, the United Church of Canada is seeking to support and help the many affected by this disaster. The national church asks our prayers for the residents of these hard-hit areas and for those working to restore services and infrastructure. Monetary donations may be sent to The United Church of Canada, Philanthropic Unit (Emerging Response for Alberta), #300, 3250 Bloor St. West, Toronto ON M8X 2Y4.
