THRIFT SHOP HELP NEEDED FOR SUMMER MONTHS
If you can volunteer the odd day to work at our Thrift Store during July and August please call the Thrift store at 372-3448 and leave your name and number. Please consider helping to support this important ministry of KUC. Thank you.
NEEDED – HELP WITH CHILDREN ON SUNDAYS
From September until June each year, the children at KUC enjoy the leadership of Dawn Aziz and follow the Godly Play curriculum during Children’s Church. However in the summer months, this program ceases and children remain in the worshipping space. The Faith Formation Core Ministry is seeking the help of adult or teen volunteers for the Sundays from August 7 until September 4 to sit (usually on the floor) with any children who are present. Play dough and an activity cart are provided. Please consider volunteering one Sunday – a sign up sheet is available on the Action Table, along with instructions. (Thanks from the FF Group.)
RIDES TO CHURCH ON SUNDAY MORNING
Recently we have had some requests for rides to church for some of our seniors who do not drive or live within walking distance of KUC. This issue arises periodically and it would seem to be a very caring act of outreach to provide a roster of names we might call on for regular or occasional rides to church. If each area of Kamloops had a few or several names offering rides no one would have to feel obligated for every Sunday and the onus for requesting rides would lie with the person who needs the ride.
If you would be willing to let your name stand on such a roster for rides in your general area of Kamloops would you please give me a call or email. Arleen Simmonds 250-374-2135 email firstname.lastname@example.org
If you have a need for a ride or know someone who does the above contact information can also be used.
SUMMER CLERGY COORDINATION FOR URGENT PASTORAL CARE COVERAGE
During the summer, Revs. Bruce Comrie, Teri Meyer and LeAnn Blackert (from Mt. Paul U.C.) will be available to provide urgent pastoral care to the three United Church congregations in Kamloops. Coordination of pastoral care coverage is through the Kamloops United Church office.
For your information, Rev. Bruce will be away from July 18 – Aug. 15. Rev. Teri Meyer will be back at KUC on July 26. Rev. LeAnn Blackert will provide urgent pastoral care during those times when both Revs. Teri and Bruce are away. If you have an urgent pastoral care need, please contact Sharon, the KUC office administrator at 250-372-3020.

Could you help?
If there is something you’d like to see on the KUC Website, please let us/me know!!
If there is something you’d like to see changed on the KUC website, same thing.
If you would like to be part of the ministry of caring for the KUC website….please!
And….It would be very helpful to KUC’s website to have a small group of people who would serve as “an editorial board”. This group could undertake such tasks as discerning/editing content and of creatively thinking up ways of enhancing the website. Interested?

Clue three to our destination: In its heyday this thriving community had the curious distinction of selling soda in “globe-stoppered bottles” or “marbles bottles”. The special soda bottle had a small marble in the neck of the bottle – when the soda water was inserted into the bottle (upside down) the marble would act as an inside stopper (cork) thus sealing the bottle. This “Codd Closure” Soda (Pop) Bottle was developed and popular in the UK but rarer in North America. It was shipped to this interior BC locale where it was filled with soda and sold.
Join our day trip for a lovely drive, museum visit, walking tour, picnic lunch and exploration of a fossil dig. A fundraiser for KUC, this day adventure costs $35 and you can register by signing on the signup sheet (either at the front doors during the week & before church or in the hall after worship) or contact Marg/Don Waldon or Patricia/Ron McColl. More information? Contact your hosts Marg or Don Waldon or Patricia or Ron McColl (They’re all in the KUC Photo Directory)
USHERS – GREETERS – SCRIPTURE READERS WORKSHOP
If you are presently an usher, a greeter, and/or a scripture reader – or if you are able to assist with any of these important Sunday tasks – please mark your calendar for an important workshop to be held on Saturday, Sept. 17th from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Since our services will be in the gym for a time while renovations take place it is important for us to review and update our knowledge for ushers and greeters especially and training for scripture readers is always important. If you have any questions, please contact Sandy Baird at 250-376-6919.
